Stephen Blair, our Quality & Technical Manager, agreed to present at Perkin Elmer’s ‘Infra-red User Group’ meeting on September 16. He presented alongside representatives from the University of Leicester, Brunel University, and EDF Energy. The Royal Institution of Great Britain, an organisation devoted to scientific education and research, hosted the evening event

Perkin Elmer, expert in detection and imaging, formed the group to enhance users’ use of their infra-red equipment. Polymer Compounders Ltd is proud to be part of this community.

Advancing Quality Control: Our Evolution with Perkin-Elmer Spectrophotometers and Enhanced Material Analysis for Automotive Customers

We bought our first Perkin-Elmer spectrophotometer in 2004. We then upgraded to a better equipment in 2010 and to the top-of-the-range software in 2012. This technology checks every box and pallet of materials for automotive customers before leaving the plant. Previously, we assisted customers by analyzing materials, including competitors’, for unexpected processing behavior or product issues.

“It was a very interesting event; it’s always enlightening to meet peers from different background and confront ideas on scientific issues”, said Stephen. “I was happy to present how working with Perkin Elmer’s technology helps Polymer Compounders Ltd provide a top-level of service for all of our customers.”

2022 and beyond

Even now, in 2022, we continue to use our Spectrum Two FTIR Spectrometer as a vital part of our day-to-day QA, testing a vast array of materials against our immense library of samples, which now exceeds 10,000!

Locally, a whole range of our customers trusts us to provide additional support, enabling them to diagnose internal issues quickly. In turn, it allows them to continue production unabated.

Innovation and Spectrum Two FT-IR Spectrometer

With the development of our Notoxicom® product family, our Spectrum Two FT-IR Spectrometer provides us with the insight that we need to ensure the success of this highly specialised and unique product. Different from the rest of the materials that we offer, Notoxicom® is treated with escalated care. Analysing each batch means that even with special material like Notoxicom® B6000, we can still ensure the product recipe is consistent. Our team at PCL would highly recommend a Perkin Elmer Spectrum Two FT-IR Spectrometer to any company looking to develop and innovate continuously.

We are proud to be part of the Perkin Elmer Infra-red User Group. Polymer Compounders Limited is looking forward to the next meeting, which will take place sometime in 2022. This interactive evening event offers a great opportunity for our team to network and learn more about all things infra-red!
